Derek Layne Wooten's Obituary
Funeral services for Derek Layne Wooten, 22, of Lake Cherokee, formerly
of Longview, will be 2 PM Saturday, November 24, 2007 in the chapel
of Rader Funeral Home with Dr. Tim Watson officiating. Interment will
follow in Rosewood Park Cemetery.
Derek was born July 17, 1985 in Longview to Jeff and Patty Wooten.
He died Wednesday morning, November 21, 2007 due to injuries he received
in an automobile accident.
Derek was majoring in health and kinesiology at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, and was a 2003 graduate of Pine Tree High School where he was a Globe Scholar and played on the Pirate basketball team.
Derek enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, and Texas Rangers, but mainly loved hanging out with all of his friends.
Derek is survived by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Amy Wooten; grandparents, Ray and Gwen Wooten; uncles and aunts, Bubba and Deb-b Ketchersid, Paul and Misti Wooten; cousins, Casey Ketchersid, Chelcie Nowak, Joey, and Tanner Wooten.
Jeff and Patty would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the Emergency Services of Longview, the staff at Longview Regional Medical Center, and to Dr. Thomas Chow and Dr. Ben Mack.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening, November 23,
from 6-8 PM.
