Dearest Mark
I just heard from Veronica today that you have passed away - my head is full to the brim with images of you . . . I still have the photograph on my bookcase of you and Sheila, Veronica and Diana, Mimi and Dado and me and Rachel Poppy which was taken in 1986; it always makes me smile with so much joy in all our faces.
I had the privilege of knowing about you from Mimi and Dado when they were in Holland with Vicki around 1977. We have met on numerous occasions since then, including 2005 when Ian and I stayed with you and Sheila for a week in your beautiful home. Even though you were nearly 5,000 miles away, it gave me a glow knowing you were there, by the lake, exuding kindness and warmth and with the possibility that we would meet again. It breaks my heart knowing that you are gone and how it must be for Sheila, Veronica, Diana and the rest of the family - my thoughts are with you all . . .
Mark, I will miss those amazing Texas hugs (!) - I used to complain to Mimi that I couldn't keep coming all this way from England for a hug(!!) I will miss your humour (your chuckles) and generosity, your good manners - and just being around you.
Sheila, my sincere, heartfelt condolences. Please remember you are always welcome in my home . . .
