Della Hicks' Obituary
A celebration of the life of Della Hicks will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 27 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Burial will follow the service at Lakeview Cemetery on Harrison Road. The service will be officiated by Dr. Gregg Zackary and Rev. Scott Schulik. Della was welcomed into the arms of Jesus Sunday night after a long struggle with various health issues.
She was born on July 2, 1928, in Edgerly, Louisiana, and was a homemaker and later worked at Gibson Discount Center and Howard's on Mobberly Avenue. Ms. Della was also a faithful nursery worker at Mobberly Baptist Church for 40 years and enjoyed caring for several generations of church members and their children.
Della, known as "Ganny" to her family, is survived by two daughters, Linda Allen Johnny and Freda Gantt all of Liberty City. Ganny often bragged about her 4 grandchildren, Kari Gantt of Liberty City; Randy Gantt of Washington state; Stacy Hammond Forrest of Washington state; and Kelli Allen-Commander Kyle of Gladewater, Texas, and 10 great grandchildren.
Preceeding her in death was her husband of 64 years Fred Hicks and one great-granddaughter, Lexi Commander.
Ganny's special pallbearers are Johnny Allen, Charles Allen, Kyle Commander, Carlos Morales, Billy Martaindale, and Brandon Martaindale.
