Delilah Anders Blackwell was born April 28, 1922, in Quitman, TX, to Lee Raymon and Velma Estelle Amason Anders. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Dow McWillie Anders.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 73 years, Paul Douglas Blackwell of Gilmer; twin daughters, Paula Risinger and husband Charles of Gilmer; and Pat Hunt and husband Harry of Carthage; grandchildren, Doug Hunt of Longview; Amy Hunt Cunha and husband Russell of Carthage; Lori Risinger Heinrich and husband Karl of Lincoln, CA; and Marci Risinger Eubanks and husband Greg of Forney. Great-grandchildren are Dawson, Landrie, Simon, Sandra, Eli, Emma, Matt, Chanthy, Garin and Charlie.
Also surviving is a brother, Charles Anders of Houston, and sisters, Myra Menees and husband Ralph of Dearing, GA., and Dorothy Swanson of Hawkins.
Delilah Blackwell loved her Lord Jesus Christ, her family, and her friends. She loved her church, singing in the choir, and visiting homebound members. Especially close to heart was the Radiant Faith Sunday School class. She loved her sisters-in-Christ.
Delilah would not speak unkindly of others and always looked for the good in people. She had no time for negative thoughts, but was grateful for each new day the Lord gave her. “This is the day the Lord has made. Let us be glad and rejoice in it.”
The family wishes to thank all who have prayed for Delilah and supported our family through these days. We especially want to thank caregiver Brenda Dupler, the nurses and staff at Regional Hospital as well as caregivers from Heartsway Hospice. And, of course, we praise God for His sustaining grace, strength, and comfort through it all.
Interment will be in Concord Cemetery near Hainesville, TX.
Those wishing to give a memorial may do so to Buckner Children and Family Services, 700 N Pearl Street, Ste 1200, Dallas, TX 75201.
"And then one day I'll cross that river,
Ill fight life's final war with pain.
And then as death gives way to victory,
I'll see the lights of Glory and I'll know he lives."
