Deena Montgomery's Obituary
Nedeena Gwendolyn "Deena" Montgomery, 93, of Longview passed away Sunday October 1, 2023. Deena resided in the Longview area for more than 60 years and was born in Fort Worth, Texas on January 8, 1930 to Aline and E.J. "Ned" Winslett in Fort Worth, Tx. She graduated from RL Paschal High School in Fort Worth and continued her education at TCU and Stephen F. Austin University to obtain her degree in Elementary Education. She was an educator in the Longview Independent School District for over 25 years. Deena enjoyed an extreme love of the outdoors her entire life and even as a young girl accompanied her parents on many fishing and hunting trips most times being tasked with the chore of dressing the fish and the birds- a memory that she recalled often. Most of all she loved deeply her children and grandchildren as evidenced by her radiant smile once in their presence. Deena was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Christi Ann. She is survived by her sons, John Montgomery of Burleson, Mark Montgomery and wife Sandra of Hallsville, Grandsons, Christopher Montgomery USMC and wife Kelly of Longview, Matthew Montgomery of Burleson, Jake Montgomery of Fort Worth and Logan Fowler of Colorado, Nephew, Kevin Montgomery and wife Kerry of Burleson, Niece Karen Farris and husband Gerald of Irving and three great Granddaughters as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
Additionally, the family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the Staff of Summer Meadows and Hospice Care for the kindness and love given to their loved one while in their care.
A private family service will be held at Rosewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Longview Animal Care and Adoption Center, 303 H.G. Mosley Pkwy, Longview, TX 75604
