Dee McCorkle's Obituary
A celebration of life for Jerry “Dee” McCorkle will be Friday, July 18th, 2014 at 2:00 o’clock at White Oak Community Church, 1501 N White Oak Rd, White Oak, TX 75693. Dee passed away Sunday, July 13th, at his home in White Oak surrounded by family and friends. Dee is now living a peaceful, eternal life with Jesus Christ without the encumbrance of cancer.
Dee McCorkle was born November 28, 1962 in Jacksonville, TX. He moved to Longview in 1982, where he met his wife Kelly. They married in 1989 and have one son, Jesse. He served in the Army National Guard from 1983 to 1990. Dee worked in maintenance for Dana Corporation from 2003 until its closing in 2012. Prior to 2003, Dee was employed by Trinity Industries. He grew up in Hope, AR and has lived in White Oak, TX for the last 23 years. Dee was a man with a sweet spirit who loved life and spending time with his family and friends. He was an outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting, 4-wheeling, sharing vegetables from his garden and cooking on his grill. Dee will forever be known and missed for his generosity and willingness to help others. He never met a stranger.
Dee is survived by his wife of 24 years, Kelly Miears McCorkle and son Jesse McCorkle of White Oak. Parents: Jerry & Sue McCorkle of Hope, AR and Charlotte & Bruce Teske of Jefferson, TX. Sister and daily, loving care-taker, Amanda Powers and spouse David Powers of White Oak, TX. Sisters: Lisa Baker and spouse Jerry Baker and Wanda Halliday and spouse Mark Halliday of Hope, AR. Brothers: James Carter of Iowa Park, TX, Danny Ledbetter and Johnny Ledbetter of Hope, AR, Glen Teske and spouse Beth Teske of Colorado Springs, CO and Kevin Teske & Kerry Teske of Longview, TX. A loving mother-in-law, Bobbie Miears of White Oak, TX. Brother-in-law, Michael “Budger” Miears of White Oak, TX and a host of nieces, nephews & friends.
Dee was preceded in death by his grandparents; Jesse & Neva McCorkle and Cleve & Opal Bennett.
Arrangements are under the care of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
The family would like to thank Hearts Way Hospice for the kind, loving care they provided during Dee’s last few months, especially Toby Wilson & Michelle Nicholson.
