Deborah L. Johnston's Obituary
Deborah Lee Johnston, 71, of Longview, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2022. Deborah was born in Longview, Texas, on December 28, 1950, to parents Carl and Loise Bunt. Deborah attended Pine Tree High School and then married Richard Johnston in 1973. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Washington D. C. Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1975. They have five children, Brandon, Josh, Amber, Adam, and Casey.
Deborah loved her family beyond words. As a life-long member of the church, Deborah knew families can be together forever. She dedicated her life to her husband Rick, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Deborah truly loves each and every member of the family and made each of them feel special. She always found time to be at every event, ball game, graduation, childbirth, and wedding. She was a rock and firm foundation, always setting the example of being one of Christ’s disciples. Deborah was the best wife, mother, Meme, sister, aunt, and friend that you could always count on to be there for you.
The family was truly blessed to have a “package deal” with Deborah’s two sisters, Virginia (Sissy) Henley and Sue Wright, and brother Max Bunt. The Johnston, Wright, Henley, and Bunt families were forged together with love as a result.
In addition to her love of family and strong dedication to being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Deborah served as president of the Relief Society on numerous occasions. She was a stunningly beautiful woman inside and out. As an added bonus, she had outstanding cooking abilities. These abilities were no doubt enhanced by the influence of other family members. Her children’s friends absolutely loved to come over for dinner at the Johnston home.
Deborah is survived by her husband Richard, of Longview, Texas, son Brandon and wife Lety of Holly Lake Ranch, Texas, son Josh and wife Amber (Danyel) of Gilmer, Texas, daughter Amber (Laine) of Longview, Texas, son Adam and wife Tasha of Hallsville, Texas, son Casey and wife Krystle of Hallsville, Texas, sister Sue Wright of Longview, Texas and niece Shannon Smith of Longview, Texas. Her cherished children brought her 19 beautiful grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. “Meme” has an undying love for each and every one of them.
Deborah was preceded in death by her loving parents, Carl and Loise Bunt, sister Virginia Henley, and brother Max Bunt.
