Dean LeRoy Miller's Obituary
Dean Leroy Miller, 87, went to be with the Lord on July 23, 2015 after fighting a battle with cancer.
He was born on January 19, 1928 in Hinsdale, Illinois to Ralph and Grace Miller, and grew up in Aurora, Illinois. Dean is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Joyce, and daughter Karen, along with niece Hilda Berryman, and several other nieces and nephews.
Dean proudly served in the Navy and was a WWII veteran. After his military service, he attended and graduated from Lamar University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He began his 40 year career with Sun Pipe Line Company in Beaumont, TX in 1951, then transferred to Longview TX in June 1970. Here, he and his family joined Oakland Heights Baptist Church where he was a faithful member serving in his Men's Bible Study Class and as a Church Usher.
Dean was also an active participant in the Longview Lions Club, where he was elected President. In addition, he enjoyed serving as a volunteer for many years for the Highway 80 Mission.
Visitation will be at Rader Funeral Home Friday evening, July 24 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. A memorial service will be held at Oakland Heights Baptist Church on Saturday, July 25 at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lottie Moon Mission Offering via
Oakland Heights Baptist Church.
