David Lee Wright's Obituary
David Lee Wright, age 80, of Longview, Texas, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2017. David was born August 23, 1936 in Gadsden, Alabama and moved to Texas as a young child. David resided in Fort Worth, Texas where he graduated from Fort Worth Technical High School, where he played basketball, track, and was recognized in both Chemistry and Mathematics. David began working at Texas Steel Company (Fort Worth Texas) until 1974 when he transferred to Southwest Steel in Longview, TX. David was married to Carol Ann Knopp, and together they had four children. David loved being with his family and enjoyed playing golf, traveling, coaching basketball and baseball, and playing dominoes. David was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Carol Wright. He is survived by his sons: David Mark Wright and wife, Lisa of Blanchard, OK; Michael Andrew Wright and wife, Dana of Longview, TX: and his daughters: Jana Leann Watkins and husband, Randy of Gladewater, TX; and Shari Kay Fullen and husband, Kelly of Denton, TX. David also was the proud grandfather ( Poppy/Pops) of Amanda Renee Wright of Longview, TX; Jennifer Lyn Ludlam of Flower Mound, TX; Greggory Scott Wright of Corinth, TX; Shane Christopher Burcham of Lewisville, TX; Heather Anne Wright of Oklahoma City, OK; and Matthew David Wright of Blanchard, OK. David was also the proud great-grandfather of 4-great grandchildren; Isaac Ludlam, Micah Ludlam, Lyla Wright and Evelyn Wright. David is also survived by his only sister, Jerry Sue Jordan of Willow Park, TX. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Longview, TX, at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 17th. Interment will be at Rosewood Park. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
