David Stansell's Obituary
David Lynn Stansell, 69, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2019 in Longview Regional Hospital surrounded by his loved ones after an extended illness.
Visitation will be at 10 AM Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Rader Funeral home followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11 AM led by Brother Bobby Moore. He will be buried with his loving parents and grandparents at Grace Hill Cemetery.
David was born in Gladewater, TX to Charles and Peggy Stansell on October 8, 1949. He attended school at Pine Tree School where he later graduated in 1970. He continued to live with his beloved parents throughout his adult years. Over the last 3 years, he has resided with his sister and caretaker Debbie.
David was a much beloved Son, Brother, Uncle, Cousin and Friend. He was also a Cowboy at heart. His first Cowboy hero was his grandfather, Byrlos Harn, with whom he spent countless hours watching old westerns and hearing his grandfather’s stories about the “good ole days”. His other heroes were John Wayne, aka “The DUKE” and the legendary, George Strait, aka “King of Country”. This leads to his other passion, Country Western dancing. He was a regular at The Reo Palm Isle and a favorite among the ladies as a dance partner, well known to always be wearing his wranglers, boots, and “big ole” belt buckles. He really stood out with his tall stature and smooth moves on the dance floor.
David is survived by his sisters, Debbie Gail and her husband James Carpenter, Paula and her husband Bill Maxwell, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family thanks Diagnostic Clinic of Longview, Pine Tree Home Health, Heartsway Hospice, and Longview Regional Hospital for their exceptional care of David over the years during his illness. Also deeply appreciated are the many prayers, visits, and acts of kindness from family and friends.
