David Edmond Schwartz's Obituary
David Edmond Schwartz, (MSgt, retired), age 88, went to be with the Lord on June 15, 2017,
with his family by his side.
David was born in Saltville, Virginia, to William and Ada Swartz on October 5, 1928.
He met the love of his life, Billie Dolores Sanders, at the early age of 15, and they married in
August 1950. He joined the United States Air Force in 1951 and began a 26 year career. He
served his country in Korea and Vietnam and together they were stationed in Japan, Germany,
Hawaii, and other stateside bases. After retirement from Kelly AFB, San Antonio, Texas, in
1976, he began a life of volunteer service. He accumulated more than 20,000 hours of
volunteer service at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio. Through the years he enjoyed
golfing 3 days a week with his retiree friends and was an avid bowler.
In 2005 he and Billie moved to Longview, Texas. He cared for Billie over the next few years until
her death from Alzhiemers in 2009. He then continued his volunteer service at Longview
Regional Medical Center, amassing more than 1300 hours. He was very active with Senior
Circle and the Green Street Recreation Center.
Left to cherish David's memory are his daughters, Lori Osborne of Longview, Texas, and Lisa
Bemrich and husband Kevin from Mayflower, Arkansas. Grandchildren Amanda Jones and
husband James, David Osborne and wife Alexandra, Kevin Bemrich Jr., and wife Melissa Jo,
and Joshua Osborne. His five precious great grandchildren, Ashley, Allison, Aaron, Tyler, and
Molly. He is also survived by sisters Lois Minton, Thelma Swartz, and Nita Swartz, all of Saltville, Virginia. Also special friend and companion JoAnn Monts, who brought joy to his life.
Service with military honors will be held in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday. Final resting place is Dallas/Ft.Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
