David L Newton's Obituary
David L. Newton, age 72passed from this life on December 26, 2020 at UT Health Center in Jacksonville, Texas. A memorial service will be held in his honor at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Henderson, Texas on Saturday, January 9th at 2 pm. Officiating the service will be Pastor Johnny Newton and close friend, Maxie Sparks. Under direction of Rader Funeral Home. David was born November 7, 1948 to Joe and Mary Newton of Joinerville, Texas. He was a Gaston Red Devil for 11 years before graduating from Henderson High School.
David always had love for flying and was involved in the Civil Ari Patrol of the Rusk County Airport. He got his pilot license at an early age and spent time flying a crop duster. His love of airplanes and motorcycles never left him. David was a master at designing things in his head or on paper, then going to his shop and building them. Over the years, he built numerous trailers and barbeque pits for his friends. His imagination and talent afforded him to create a lot of special treasures for people he cared about. After his retirement, he found joy in serving his community through Meals on Wheels. Those who knew David, would often say he never met a stranger, and many people could call David their friend. His grandkids gave him the nickname “Mr. D” when they were young. That name stuck with him over the years. He loved his family and friends very deeply and spent countless hours with his favorite dog, Max.
Left to treasure his memory is his wife of 26 years, Dottie Newton, brother Richard Newton and wife, Wendy; son, Jeff Stanley and wife, Diana; daughter, Erica Covey and husband, Harvey. Grandchildren include Jaden and wife, Hannah; Jaret and wife, Aubrey; Chase and wife, India, as well as Jacelyn, Colton, Cooper, David, DJ, Julianna, Juliette, Caleb, Maya, Aaron, Alan and Abbey. Great grandchildren include Jetson, Leeland and Ahli. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
