When I first started leaving home without my parents supervising me, my Daddy gave me a quarter, I asked him what the quarter was for and he told me it was in case I needed him to pick me up, all I had to do was get to a phone and call him and he'd be there no questions asked and no judgment. Just call me if you ever need me and I'll be there so keep it and use it if you need to he told me. I never left the house without him asking me if I had my quarter, there were even a few times after I moved out on my own and had a cell phone that he would still asked if I had it, I think just to let me know that I could still call him if I needed him. I kept that quarter all these 35+ years since then and luckily never needed to use it so I gave it back to him when we laid him to rest last week for safekeeping.
