David Marshall's Obituary
David Ellis Marshall, 61, was called home on October 1, 2017 in Tyler, TX. David was born August 11, 1956 in Henderson, TX to his parents Luther and Louise Marshall. David was a lifelong resident of Henderson. After serving 4 years in the United States Army, David graduated from Kilgore College with an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice.
David served 33 years with the Henderson Police Department, retiring at the rank of Detective. David continued to serve his community as a Lieutenant with the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division. He ended his law enforcement career with a Master Peace Officer License. David was a faithful member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Henderson, TX where he served as the Parish Council President for 6 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, and took pride in helping others.
A loving husband and father, David is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Carmen Marshall; his children David J. Marshall and wife Christina; Alicia Marshall and fiancé Morgan Contreras; Tricia Still; Patrick Lewis and wife Heather, children Paisley and Peyton; mother-in-law Maria Lopez, brother-in-law Ramon Lopez and wife Belinda, sister-in-law Teresa Threadgill and husband Chris, sister-in-law Rosa Martin and husband Hal, sister-in-law Rosario Flesher and husband Darryl, sister-in-law Bernice Lopez; nieces and nephews, Kristen Threadgill, Alex Martin, Jackson and Michelle Threadgill, Gerry Lopez, Anastasia and Isabella Flesher, cousin Linda Bridges and family, aunts Mary Forbus and Doris Davis; John and Pam Kelley; Craig and Paula Sweeney; goddaughter Yesenia Escobedo; and many extended family and dear friends.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Rader Funeral Home from 5-7 PM followed by a rosary at St. Jude’s Catholic Church at 7:30 PM. A funeral Mass will take place Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 10 AM at First United Methodist Church followed by the burial at Rusk County Memorial Gardens.
