David’s family moved to the Chicago IL area when he was a teenager. A few years later he joined the Marines and served in Vietnam. After his discharge, he worked as an auto parts salesman. In 1974 he and Marilyn moved to Longview TX and he worked as an auto mechanic. Auto mechanics was his expertise and he obtained his teaching certificate so he could pass on his knowledge and skill to future generations. He taught LISD vocational auto mechanics for two decades before retiring. He and Marilyn also had a wholesale flowering plant business for a few years. David continued to work on cars as a hobby after retirement. He also got quite involved with his sons’ BMX racing which included a lot of traveling and man-hours year round. Lastly, David took up rock and gem hunting, mostly in North Carolina and Arkansas, and he learned how to facet gems as well as cut and polish rocks. In between time, David enjoyed camping and fishing with his family.
David loved interacting with his family while teaching and nurturing them and watching them grow. He was deeply loved and all will greatly miss him.
