Dr. David K. Jenkins' Obituary
Dr. David K. Jenkins, age 57, passed away on May 5, 2020. He was born in Vernal, Utah October 17, 1962 to Karl Dee and Jacqueline Jenkins. He grew up in Houston, Texas where he met his future wife, Sandy. They both attended and graduated from Jersey Village High School, Class of 1981. During high school he was active in football, baseball, and ran track.
David attended college at Baylor University. He then moved on to The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston where he earned his Doctorate in Medicine, completed his residency and became board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery. He was an honored member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, Texas Medical Association and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He moved to Longview in June 1994 and started his medical career. David spent most of his career at the Diagnostic Clinic of Longview, caring for the people of East Texas for over 25 years.
David enjoyed playing golf, hunting and fishing with his boys, traveling, and spending time at Lake Cherokee. He was happiest while at home grilling surrounded by his family.
Those left to cherish his memory are his junior high sweetheart and wife of 36 years Sandy Jenkins, son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Alex Jenkins, daughter Lindsey Jenkins and son Cody Jenkins. Parents, Karl Dee and Jacqueline Jenkins. Brothers, Michael and wife Kim Jenkins, Ryan and wife Heather Jenkins, as well as nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
Graveside services will be Monday, May 11, 2020 at 11am at Rosewood Park in Longview.
