David Holland's Obituary
David Lawrence Holland went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 21, 2021. He was 74 years old born on October 3, 1946, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Robert L. and Mona Ruth Holland. He attended Mary Carroll High School in Corpus Christi, TX. David married Nancy Janell Sneed on April 5, 1968. David and Janell were married 52 years. He was drafted into the army in 1968. He served two years with a tour in Viet Nam, where he was a door gunner and a tunnel rat. He was a two time purple heart recipient, as well as a two time Air Medal recipient while in Viet Nam. He was an avid bike rider and participated in several rides around Texas. He did the Hell Week rides; He rode from Corpus Christi to Nacogdoches in three days on a tandem bike with Wayne Ginzer who was blind. He retired from Citgo Refinery after 27 year. He was a faithful servant at Parkside Church of God in Corpus Christi. After moving to East Texas in 2004, he also served faithfully at Crosspointe Fellowship church in Kilgore. He participated in several mission trips over the years: Metairie, Louisiana after hurricane Katrina, twice to Wasilla, Alaska, to help with youth camp improvements and Baltimore, Maryland, to remodel a church. He was preceded in death by both his parents, Robert and Mona Ruth Holland. He is survived by his older sister, Bobby Ruth Griffith, his wife, Janell Holland, two daughters, Amy Henderson and Husband Rodney, Dee Ann Huey and husband Patrick, five grandchildren, Ashley Fears and husband Colby, Cameron Henderson, Kason Henderson, Kaytlin Huey and Trinity Huey and two great grandchildren, Cooper Fears and Dovey Fears.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved his whole family dearly and gave all the credit to God for them all. He loved his heavenly Father and served Him wherever he was in the world and in his life. He was always willing to talk to anyone about his God and what He had done for him. He will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to Crosspointe Fellowship Church, in Kilgore, or to your favorite charity.
Graveside services and Military Honors for Mr. Holland will be held on Tuesday, January 26 at 11 am at Fairview Cemetery behind Fairview Methodist Church in Nacogdoches, TX. Highway 21 East.
