David Howard Chenoweth, Jr.'s Obituary
David Howard Chenoweth, Jr. was born February 24, 1931 in Orange, TX to David Howard Chenoweth, Sr. and Fontella Chenoweth. He passed away on February 23, 2019 in Longview, TX at home surrounded by family. Mr. Chenoweth served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. After his service in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Chenoweth worked for defense and commercial contractors including Philco, Collins Radio, Rockwell International, and Continental Electronics.
He met the love of his life, Dorothy Ellis, while in Junior High and they were married on March 29, 1951. They spent the next 64 years together. Work often required him to travel all over the world, and his wife Dorothy loved to accompany him whenever possible. Together they raised five children – four who survive him.
Mr. Chenoweth was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife Dorothy, and son Jimmy.
He is survived by his children: Barbara Simpson (Rick); David Chenoweth (Sara); Paul Chenoweth (Rhonda); and Nancy Whittenberg (Clay).
He is also survived by grandchildren: Taylor Simpson (Katie); Jordan Simpson (Katie); Katie Potter (Matthew); Jay Whittenberg; and Erin Whittenberg.
His great grandkids: Marleigh, Eva, Andrew, Jack, Anna, Sadie, and Samuel.
Mr. Chenoweth is also survived by sister-in-law, Margaret Braddock; brother-in-law, Craig Zebrowski; and cousin, Billy Ray Grammer.
A memorial service will be held at Rader Funeral home Chapel in Longview on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 12 noon.
