David C. Stuckey's Obituary
David C. Stuckey entered eternal rest at Margaret's House on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012. Interment is scheduled for 2 PM Wednesday, April 11 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will follow at 3 PM in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, Longview with Dr. Tim Watson and Dr. Cary Hilliard officiating. The family will greet friends Tuesday, April 10, from 6 to 8 PM at Rader Funeral Home, Longview
David was born August 11, 1942, in Fairfield, Iowa, to William Henry Stuckey and Majorie Follen Stuckey. The family moved to Longview in 1948 where Mr. Stuckey worked in R. G. LeTourneau's print shop. The family lived on the campus of what now is LeTourneau University. David attended Longview schools and graduated from Istrouma High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He returned to Longview when his mother became ill and retired from Texas Eastman in 1997.
An active member of First Baptist Church, David was a member of the Businessmen's Bible Class. He was one of the original "Red Shirts", the team of greeters for the worship services. He ushered, volunteered in the kitchen and at the ROC, taught children's Sunday School, and helped with Upward Basketball for Children.
He is survived by his wife: Fredna of Longview, daughters: Rebecca Lynn Stewart, Kilgore, Sherry Lana Robinson, of Longview, Cynthia Ann Emerson of Longview, son: David Anson Stuckey of Union Grove, stepson: Clayton A. Smith of Longview, stepdaughter: Shelley L. Couch of Forney, sisters: Joyce Helvie of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Martha Weatherby of Odessa, TX, brothers: Dan J. Stuckey of Sacramento, CA,, Joel A. Stuckey of Sacramento, CA, and Phillip D. Stuckey of Plano, 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death a sister: Ruth Irene Camp and a brother: Sam P. Stuckey.
