Russell David 'Dave' Jackson
LONGVIEW, TX – A memorial service for Russell David "Dave" Jackson will be at 1:00 on Thursday September 15, 2011 at the Ford Chapel, First Baptist Church, Longview, with the Reverend David English officiating. Mr. Jackson passed away on Monday September 12, 2011. Dave will be fondly remembered by his family and friends for his calm, kind-hearted demeanor, a sharp wit, a talented hand in woodworks, his unwavering patriotism, and a genuine, inviting grin.
Mr. Jackson was born on September 18, 1948, in Overton, Texas, to Jesse Hadley Jackson and Sydney "Betty" Patterson Jackson. He graduated from Pasadena High School in Pasadena, Texas, in 1967. Shortly afterwards, he enlisted in the Marines and served as a Sergeant in the Vietnam War. After the war, he went to work for Brown and Root and retired after 25 years of service. He then attended Kilgore College, earning two Associate degrees in Industrial Management and Industrial Safety. He worked for the Huntsman Corporation, and most recently was employed as a construction coordinator at Flint Hills Resources.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his father and mother, a sister, Janice Jackson of Houston, and a half- brother, Carter Jackson of Pittsburg. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jackson, of Longview, a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Lori Jackson, of Brooklyn, New York, a step-daughter and husband, Lacee and Bryan Osteen, of Houston, and special nieces, Alyson Bagley, of Longview, and Lindsey and husband Jonathan Dyer, of Dallas. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Brenda Robertson, and a father-in-law, Bill Robertson, both of Longview, and four granddaughters, India Jackson, Addison Dyer, Lauren Dyer, and Claire Osteen.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday September 14th from 5:00-6:30 at Rader Funeral Home. The family extends their sincere gratitude to Daisy and Carl Cox of Big Sandy, Ruby Chadwick, and nurse, Michelle, from Beacon Hospice, for their special care.
