Darwin Redmon, SR's Obituary
Graveside services for Darwin Redmon, SR, 85, of Longview, will be held at 10 AM Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Harris Chapel Cemetery in Beckville with Rev. Ben Clayton and Rev. Bruce Will officiating. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Redmon passed away Tuesday morning in a local hospital. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
Darwin was born in the Harris Chapel Community in Panola County on July 29, 1926 to Edgar and Katie Bell Redmon. After high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Force. He was a Deacon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Longview. Mr. Redmon was also a proud member of the Masonic Lodge in Beckville for over 50 years, where he was a 32nd degree mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Doris Ellis Redmon, in 2004; and two brothers, Jake Redmon and Junius Redmon.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ruth Redmon; his children and their spouses, Cathy Davis and her husband Bennie, Janie Redmon and Wayne Green, Darwin Redmon, JR and his wife Arlene, and Susan Lassiter; his step-sons, Michael Scott and Kenneth Davis; his special grandson, Paul Jacks; 5 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
