Daronda Natalie Lindsay's Obituary
Graveside services for Daronda Mackey Lindsay, of Longview, will be 2 PM Wednesday, November 4, at Alpine Cemetery, Longview, Texas. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 3, from 6 to 7 PM. Arrangements under the direction of Rader Funeral Home, Longview.
Mrs. Lindsay passed away Sunday, November 1, 2009, at the age of 86. She was born February 23, 1923 in Beaumont, Texas to Joe R., Sr. and Natalie Mackey and moved with her family to Longview in 1934, graduating from Longview High School with the class of 1940. She married the late T. M. Lindsay in April of 1942 and they were parents of two sons. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Longview.
Daronda retired after 45 years with Southwestern Bell and AT & T Telephone Company, then volunteered several years with the Good Shepherd Medical Center Auxiliary. She was very much a people person, making friends with all she met. All who knew her, from co-workers to family and friends, called her ?granny? and she loved it. She particularly enjoyed the gatherings of family and friends most every weekend at her vacation home on Lake Cherokee. She was an excellent cook and loved to feed her flock.
Mrs. Lindsay was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Joe Michael Mike Lindsay Sr. and two brothers, Joe R. Mickey Mackey, Jr. and Jack D. Mackey. She is survived by one son. M. A. Pat Lindsay, one granddaughter, Kim Lindsay Milcarek and husband Stefan, three grandsons, Joe M. Lindsay, Jr and wife Shannon, Shane Lindsay and Chris Lindsay, four great grandchildren, Shelby Lindsay, Corey Evans, Logan Lindsay and Carson Lindsay, three great great grandchildren, Mason, Kori, and Carter Evans. Surviving also are two sisters, Shirley Mackey and Norma Jean McCulloch and husband Burley and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express sincere appreciation and thanks to all the staff at Clairmont Nursing Home, the staff at Heart?s Way Hospice and special friend Susan Netecke for the care given to our loved one.
