Darlynn Jones' Obituary
Darlynn was born July 20, 1937, in Longview to Tommy and Kathryn Grounds, Sr. She passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024, in Longview. Darlynn began working for Gregg County in the County Clerk’s Office in 1992. In 1996, she transferred to the Administrative Assistant position in the County Judge’s Office. She worked six years for Judge Mickey Smith, nine years for Judge Bill Stout, and retired at the age of 75 after 20 years of public service. She also worked as a legal secretary for several Longview attorneys throughout her career. Darlynn had several friends throughout the courthouse, although many have retired. Those who knew Darlynn remember her smile, her energy, her wit, and her long fingernails! Darlynn was a longtime member of the Pine Tree Cumberland Presbyterian Church, having made her profession of faith on April 5, 1953. She served in many capacities of the church, including elder, session clerk, and choir member. She was vital and active in numerous ministries of the CPWM. Darlynn is survived by her stepsister, Janiece Baldwin, stepsister Mary Ann Stone, and a host of friends.
