Darlene Chapman's Obituary
Sharon Darlene Chapman of Henderson passed away on June 27, 2024. She was 86 years old.
Darlene was born on February 24, 1938 in Henderson, Texas to Floyd and Juanita Bennett. She had an older sister, Wanda and a younger brother, Stanley.
In 1958, she married Mike Chapman; a marriage that would last fifty years and produce three children, Curtis, Greg and Debbie.
Darlene worked twenty six years as a floral designer. Always talented, with an eye for design, she worked three different places utilizing those talents, the majority of those years at Henderson Flower Shop.
Always active in her church, Emmanuel Baptist Church, she shared her love for God and others by baking and cooking for so many and praying unceasingly for them. A prayer warrior who loved her family, she was an example to them all of what a mom, grandma, and wife should be.
When not in the kitchen cooking for others, she could be found in her garden tending to the many flowers that she loved or watching the Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks or the Dallas Stars play on TV.
Darlene was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Bernard Bennett, her mother, Sarah Juanita Bennett, her sister Wanda (Bennett) Hughes and her husband Bob, and her brother Stanley Bennett and his wife Christine.
Darlene is survived by her children and their spouses, Curtis Chapman, Greg and Lisa Chapman, and Debbie and Kevin Snyder.
She was the much loved grandma to nine grandchildren : Brandon Chapman, Katy Lockhart and husband Garrett, Shea Chapman, Michael Chapman, Joshua Snyder and wife Liang, Sarah Carmical and husband Connor, Hannah Snyder, Micah Snyder, and Leah Snyder.
She was also the beloved great grandma to six: T.J. Payne, Taryn Payne, Ember Lockhart, Eden Lockhart, Rowan Carmical, and Alora Carmical.
On Monday, July 1, 2024, visitation will be held at 3:00 pm followed by a Memorial Service at 4:00 pm.
Friends and Family are urged, in lieu of flowers, to make a donation in Darlene’s honor to Emmanuel Baptist Church in Henderson.
