I was one of those LU sports students that Dan opened his home to. I remember my first trip, and how he called me to the front of the bus. He then asked me questions about who I was and what I wanted to do with my life. He always has a special place in his heart for the girls. I was fortunate to work with Dan and Fonda in the LeTourneau University bookstore during book rushes a few times. One time I remember was when Dan and I were asked to do the book totals at the end. Although Tim and I have not seen Dr. Dan for several years, we will truely miss him. We both played sports at LeTourneau University and got to know him through him driving the bus. What a special man Dan was! Brian and I met Dan right away when we started attending Greggton along with my brother too. Dan and Fonda loved on us so sweetly for our four years at LU. From hugs every Sunday to taking us to Fazoli's on Sunday nights, there were so many ways they shared their love. We rejoice that he and Fonda are both in the arms of Jesus now. Dan was a great and wonderful friend. I worked with him at LeTourneau University. Also,he did our taxes every year but would never take a dime. He was so kind. He had such a good heart. We so appreciated him and we will dearly miss him. We were not aware of his death until today. We know the LORD JESUS brought the news of his departure from earth to heaven to us. You see today 09-04-09 we were looking for our 2008 tax return. We needed it for a business transaction. We looked everywhere but could not find it. We finally decided to call Dan and ask if he could fax a copy of our 2008 return to us. We left a message on his answering machine today about our need. Later, I was speaking to a friend of mine on the phone who lives only a few houses down from him. She was telling me they were working on their taxes due next Friday. This brought up the conversation about our lost 2008 tax return we had been looking for today. She then told us what had happened to Dan. We were so shocked when we heard the news.
