Dan Wilmoth's Obituary
Funeral Services for Dan Wilmoth, 85, of Longview, will be 2 PM Saturday at Wesley-McCabe United Methodist Church with Reverend Carl E. Lundberg and Judge T. John Ward officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Park Cemetery. Rader Funeral Home, Longview, in charge of services.
The family will greet friends on Friday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Wilmoth died Wednesday morning.
A native of Oklahoma, he was born February 3, 1919 to the late Tom and Pearl Overby Wilmoth. He was the owner of Wilmoth Construction Company and built commercial buildings all over the United States. He served his country during WWII in the US Navy. Mr. Wilmoth was a member of the Wesley-McCabe United Methodist Church and served in numerous positions in the church including the Board of Trustees and the Administrative Board and was actively involved in the merger of Wesley United Methodist Church and McCabe United Methodist church. He was very active in community affairs and was on the board of Directors of the First National Bank of Longview and its successors and on the board of directors of Pine Crest Country Club. He was an instrument rated pilot who loved to fly and was an avid sportsman.
Mr. Wilmoth was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roy Wilmoth.
A loving husband, devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 65 years, Maxine, daughter: Danna Fowler and husband Wally of Baytown; Grandchildren: Tom Fowler of Dallas, Donald Fowler of Dallas and Chris Fowler and wife Nancy of Overland Park, Kansas; Great Grandchild: Ali Fowler of Overland Park, Kansas; Sister: Betty McNeill and husband Glen of Longview; Nephews: Jerry McNeill of Houston and James Wells of Plano; Niece: Judy Morehead of New York, NY; Sister in Law: Inez Wells of Plano.
