Daisy Bell Dhooge
Daisy Bell Dhooge passed away peacefully in Gilmer, Texas on December 3, 2005. Daisy was born in Opp, Alabama on May 23, 1916, and her family moved to Longview, Texas while she was still a young girl. She was born to a family of Long-lived people, her mother Annie having lived to 105 and her grandfather William Lundy to 109. Daisy worked for 33 years at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and was active in the Telephone Company Pioneers.
She was preceded in death by her husband Desmond and son Monte, and is survived by two daughters, Nelwyn Christopher and Melba Blake, and two sons, Weldon Davis and Patrick Dhooge. Daisy is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 20 great great grandchildren.
She was an avid bowler and participated for many years in league bowling in the Dallas area. Daisy was a member of the First Christian Church in Longview and sang in the choir for many years. Her family and friends will miss her greatly.
Daisy?s funeral service will be held at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Longview on Wednesday, December 7, 2005 with Reverend Robert Bennett officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Dallas at 3 p.m.
