D. Wayne Key's Obituary
D. Wayne ?Dogie? Key, beloved husband and father, passed from this life to his eternal life on Friday, May 9th. He was a kind and considerate man, always ready to laugh and enjoy life. He will be dearly missed by all?especially at the domino table. Services will be 10 AM Monday, May 12th at the Longview Church of Christ, 1401 Eden Dr. with Benny Bristow officiating. Burial will be at Rosewood Park under the direction of Rader Funeral Home.
He was born July 24, 1918 at Lamesa, Texas. He was the owner of Key Auto Parts in Eunice, New Mexico for 45 years. While in New Mexico, he was very involved in community activities including Rotary Club, the Eunice Volunteer Fire Department, and the local school board on which he served 21 years, 7 of these as president. ?Dogie? was an avid golfer and was one of those responsible for building the Eunice Country
Club. He loved to entertain his family by playing the piano and singing. He retired and moved to Longview in 1985 . He was a member of the Church of Christ and served as a song leader for much of his adult life.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Louise; his daughters and sons-in-law: Sharon and Gary Sanders of Longview; Kathy and Lee Hermes of Longview, and Dena and Larry Hart of Kingfisher, Oklahoma; his grandchildren: Cristi Sanders Davis, Holly Sanders Fuller, Mick Hart, Michele Hart Yeoman, Timothy Key, Matthew Key, Jeramie White, and Stephanie White; 12 great grandchildren; and brother, Jack Key of Uvalde, Texas. He was preceded in death by his one son, Jeffry Key, his father, mother, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
His grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers: Tim and Matt Key, Mick Hart, Jeramie White, Michael Davis, Mike Fuller, and Jim Yeoman
