Mrs. Cynthia Ann Gurganus
Cynthia A. Gurganus passed away peacefully at her home in Longview on Monday, January 2, 2017, with her family present. In her struggle with cancer she maintained her graciousness and her entertaining sense of humor. Cynthia was born on November 22, 1952 in El Paso, TX to Tsgt Bobby L. and Ann E. Reeves. She is survived by her husband of 44 years Ben and their two children Phillip and Gracie.
She spent a life time of volunteering helping others. She formed a military Family Support group for the Texas Army National Guard in Longview and continued with helping soldiers and their families not only at unit level but Battalion and State. Cynthia was the East Texas State Coordinator for Run for the Wall for ten years. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 131 and also supported the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4002. Her caring and relentless effort at helping others touched many lives.
There will be a Celebration of Life memorial at 1:00pm on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4002 located at 401 Ambassador Row, Longview, TX 75604.
