Curtis Duncan's Obituary
Funeral services for Curtis Duncan , age 86 of Henderson, will be held Friday July 25 , 2008 at 10:30am at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Greg Johnson, and Rev. Robert Hall officiating, burial will follow at Rusk County Memorial Gardens Cemetery where Masonic Graveside rites will be held. Services are under the direction of the Rader Funeral Home of Henderson.
Mr. Duncan died Tuesday July 22, 2008 in a Tyler Hospital.
Curtis was born to Arthur G. & Effie Duncan October 6, 1921 in the Hickey Community, He graduated from Henderson High School in 1940 part of a 123 member class. After graduation he went to work at Chamberlain Chevorlet where he worked until he enlisted in the Army in June of 1942. He was assigned to the 32nd Infantry Division. In 1945 he was discharged from the Army, and was awarded the Bronze Star. In 1947 Curtis married Mozell Thornton they were married almost 61 years before his death Tuesday. Curtis worked for both the Chevrolet and Ford dealerships in Henderson in sales before his retirement in 1988.Curtis was a member of the First Baptist Church in Henderson, where he was a deacon, and a member of the Adult 7 Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Clinton Masonic Lodge #23 where he had just received his 60 year pin. He was also a 32 degree Mason, a member of the Sharon Temple Shrine, and a member of the VFW Post 8535.
He was preceded in death by his parents A.G. & Effie Duncan, brothers A.G. Duncan Jr. & Dewayne Duncan.
He is survived by his wife Mozell Duncan of Henderson, son Debron C. Duncan of Austin, daughter & son-in-law Patsy & Ronnie Morrison of Cleveland, grandchildren Amy Henson & husband Todd of Corinth, Adam Morrison & wife Roxie of Irving, Charles B. Duncan & wife Sarah of Minneapolis, Mn., Abby Duncan of Austin, great grandchildren Lindsay, Madison, and Lucas Henson all of Corinth.
Pallbearers will be David Duncan, Bubba Duncan, John Freeman, Reggie Whitehead, Michael Taliaferro, Hagan Taliaferro, Mark Gibson, and Scott Gibson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Deacons of the First Baptist Church, members of the Adult 7 Sunday school class, and the Clinton Masonic Lodge #23.
The family will meet friends at the Funeral Home from 6pm – 8pm Thursday
