Crossland Frank Johnie's Obituary
Services for Johnie Frank Crossland, Sr. will be held at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home on Friday, September 25, 2015. Dr. Keith Kelley and Reverend Bob White will be officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Park with full military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2015. Mr. Crossland passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 in Longview.
Johnie was born on November 7, 1934 in Tyler, TX to Allison Crossland and Mabel Christian. He is a retired Chief Petty Officer with the United States Navy. He enlisted during the Korean War and served his country as a Medic with the 2nd Marine Division during the Vietnam War. Upon his retirement from the Navy he moved his family to Longview, TX where he was employed as Medical Director for the lab at Gladewater Hospital.
He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church for over 38 years where he was active in the Senior Ministry. He enjoyed and loved his Sunday School Class. Most of all he loved the Lord. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved fishing, hunting, golf, working in his garden and the Dallas Cowboys.
He is preceded in death by his father Allison Crossland; mother Mabel Christian and husband Weldon Christian and great grandson Matthew Otis.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Betty Crossland; sons Johnie Frank Crossland, Jr. and wife Renee of Caddo Lake, James Crossland and wife Rhonda of Hallsville; daughters Debra Taylor and husband Charlie of Diana, Beverly Burleson and husband David of Longview; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews.
