Crawford Hurst ?Smiles? Kilfoyle was a life long resident of Longview and Gregg County. At age 7, he started work with his own paper route and then delivered eggs on a horse drawn wagon. By age 12 he was making sodas at the Junction Drug Store. At age 15, he started work with the Texas & Graveside Services for Crawford Hurst ?Smiles? Kilfoyle, 93, of Longview will be Thursday, September 9, 2004, at 2 p.m., at Peatown Christian Church Ceme-tery. Mr. Kilfoyle died Saturday, Septem-ber 4, 2004 in a local Nursing home.
Mr. Kilfoyle was born on November 9, 1910 in the Fredonia Community between Longview and Kilgore. Crawford was a life long resident of Longview and Gregg County. At age 7, he started work with his own paper Pacific Railroad when steam was king. He retired as general yardmaster from the Union Pacific Rail-road after more than 45 years of service. He spent his remaining years caring for others.
Mr. Kilfoyle was preceded in death by his wife, Florence McNees Kilfoyle; Mother and father Linn and Lula Kil-foyle; 2 sisters Annie Mae Kilfoyle Perry and Mary Kilfoyle Blalock; brother Lynn Peter Kilfoyle; and a niece Marion Bla-lock Lyles.
He is survived by his son and their wives Lynn and Julie Kilfoyle and Don and Pamela Kilfoyle all of Longview; 2 nieces, Joyce Blalock Erwin and Winfred Blalock Chapman; 3 grandsons, Donald E. Kilfoyle, Casey and wife Donna Kil-foyle, and Kirk Kilfoyle; 5 great grand-children, Rebecca, Cailey, Conner , Robert, and Kiley Kilfoyle.
