Cosmo Douglas Smith
Born January 8, 1918 in Morgan , TX . Died May 26, 2012 in Tyler , TX . He was a Baptist and attended Cowboy Church . He was preceeded in death by his parents; Douglas & Roxie Smith of Morgan, TX, a sister Cleo Wright of Cleburne, TX and a brother, Allen Smith of Glen Rose, TX.
Mr. Smith is survived by a sister, Opal Wacasey of Ardmore, OK, a daughter Linda Cunningham of Coolidge , TX , son Gary Douglas Smith & daughter-in-law Carolyn Smith of Minden , TX. , five grandchildren; Katrina Erwin, Ted Sims, Sherry Cunningham, Stephanie Smith & Stephen Smith, six great-grandchildren and a very special friend Sybile Wessarges.
He served in the U.S. Army from June 1941 to December 1945 in North Africa , Italy , France and Germany and received three medals. Retired from Brown & Root in 1981 and moved to Minden , TX where he resided for the last 31 years.
The family will receive friends and family at Rader Funeral Home of Henderson on Monday May 28, 2012 from 6PM to 8PM.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday May 29, 2012 at 11:30AM at Zion Hill Cemetery with Rev. Bill Kuykendall officiating.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Smith, Thurston Wright, James Moss, Johnny Ray Floyd Jr., William Floyd & Freddie Beall.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University BLVD Tyler, TX 75701
