Connie May Runia's Obituary
Connie May Runia, 86, of Longview, passed away peacefully during her afternoon nap on March 17th, 2021.
Connie was predeceased by her parents Jewell and May, her brothers Donald and Charles, her husband Vernon, and her son Steven. She is survived by her three sisters Joyce, Patricia, and Jewel, five sons Vernon, Timothy, James, Roy, and Thomas, her 23 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
Connie was born on August 30th, 1934 in Chicago Illinois. She met her late husband Vernon Arthur Runia in Oak lawn Illinois. He was so proud of her and wanted to show her off to everyone. Vernon was offered a job to work on a ranch for two weeks in Texas. They decided to elope and were married in Hot Springs, Arkansas on July 21st, 1951. Connie and husband Vernon were together 54 beautiful years before his passing in 2005. Together they were blessed with six boys who in return blessed her with 23 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her savior when she was 12 years old and all she wanted to do was to go to church!!! She was sure to share her faith with anyone who would listen and spread the word of our savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Connie was a great wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Connie cherished blessing others. Every year she made sure to send each grandchild and great-grandchild a birthday card and/or Christmas card along with updates on her year. Connie was loving, caring, and always thought dearly of her family, relatives, and friends. Connie lived a full and warm life, filled with joy and kindness. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
