In 1977, the family moved to Fountain Valley, California, when Mr. Deen was made responsible for sales in the California area. In 1979, Mr. Deen returned to Texas to Longview to be manager of marketing services and relief valve product line for Axelson. He was honored as Boss of the Year 1982-83 by the Golden Light Chapter of American Business Women's Association.
With his wife Pat, Mr. Deen was active in the Wellmaker Joy Sunday school class at Greggton United Methodist Church. He also enjoyed playing golf and was well known for his fine sense of humor.
