Cohen Matthew Ramirez's Obituary
“Every child is a story yet to be told…”
With deep sadness, we share the passing of our son, Cohen Matthew Ramirez, born June 17, 2026, in Longview, Texas. Cohen arrived at 1:25 AM, weighing 12 ounces and measuring 9.5 inches long. He passed peacefully at 2:30 AM, and although his time with us was brief, he made a lasting impact on our hearts.
Cohen was the beloved son of Kayeleigh Whatley and Brayden Ramirez. He was the first grandchild for his grandparents Megan Roemelin, Zack and Lora Gonzalez, and Mickey and Felicia Whatley. He was also the first great‑grandson of Kaye and Terry Bergman, Shellie and James Cary.
He is remembered by his maternal aunts and uncles Karlee and Emmey Whatley, Madison Prince, Easton, Tanner, and Josh Bergman, Amanda and Danzel Wilson, T.J. and Jesse Roemelin, and Andrew and Tammie Rodriguez; along with many cousins. On his paternal side, he is remembered by his grandparents Challis Thomas and Kenny Ramirez, his uncle and aunt Blaise and Avah Ramirez, and Esvan and Maggie Barrera, as well as numerous cousins.
Cohen was preceded in death by several loved ones—his Nanny, Papaw, Mawmaw, Pawpaw, and Gpaw—and we take comfort in knowing he is surrounded by family in heaven.
Even though Cohen was with us for only an hour and five minutes, the love we have for him is immeasurable. We often think about the moments we hoped to share with him—riding motorcycles with his Papi and Grumpy, listening to music on drives with his mama, Lolli, Grammy, and Aunt Karlee and Emmey, and growing up to enjoy baseball and hunting with the uncles and grandpas who were already so excited to know him. These memories we imagined will stay with us always.
During this difficult time, we ask for prayers and support from our community as we grieve. Cohen was deeply loved, and while we mourn the life we wished he could have lived, we are grateful for the short time we were blessed to hold him.
