Dear Rood family,
It is with great sadness that we heard about Coen's passing. As you know we, my parents, my bother and sister, were part of the close circle of what was left after the war. My father Nico loved Coen dearly, considered him his great and true friend. He never lost contact, nor did Coen, even through the most difficult of times.
Coen was for us a symbol of survival, of life after and in spite of the darkness, of a disappeared world he embodied in his every word, which he never ceased to tell us about, to bear witness of, to carry on for ever.
May he rest in peace as my father does now for so long : comrades. May his memory be a blessing to us all.
