Clyde Edward “Bill” Burns
A Celebration of Life for Mr. Clyde Edward Burns, 87, of Henderson, will be 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 in the chapel of Rader Funeral Home. Pastors Bill Kuykendall, Steve Butler, Frank Lane and Keith Lybrand will conduct the services. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2016 at Rader Funeral Home. Mr. Burns passed away January 15, 2016 at Hospice of East Texas, HomePlace in Tyler. Mr. Burns was born February 27, 1928 in the Millville community and was a lifelong resident of Henderson. He graduated from Henderson High School and attended Henderson Business College. After serving in the United States Army in Germany in the early 50s, he returned to Henderson and married Rosalee Hyatt. Mr. Burns worked for Resistol Hat Corporation in Longview and retired there after 40 years. In his retirement he worked in his shop restoring trunks, making yard art, restoring old cars, and working on his tractors. When he wasn’t working at home he was involved with the Rusk County Chamber of Commerce and was awarded Silver Star of the Year for 4 years. He also spent a lot of time traveling to different homeless missions in the East Texas area where he led in singing and preaching. Mr. Burns devoted time to Gaston Museum, Hospice volunteer duties and church activities. Mr. Burns was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Burns, his mother, Zadie Valley Burns and brother, Andrew B. Burns. He is survived by his loving wife, Rosalee Burns of Henderson; children, Edward Ray Burns and wife Mandi King Burns of Mesquite, TX, Linda Burns-King and husband Chris King of Henderson; sisters, Annie Florence Ward of Henderson and Inez Thomas and husband Durwood of Henderson; his beloved grandchildren, Landon King of Longview, TX, Braden King and wife Geanina of Tyler, TX, Joshua Burns and wife Emily of Nashville, TN, Jacob Burns of Corinth, TX, numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and a brand new tractor. Serving as pallbearers will be Landon King, Braden King, Joshua Burns, Jacob Burns, Jimmy Fitzgerald, James Pike, Terry Thomas and Wendall Whitten.
