Claude Hicks' Obituary
Claude Hicks, of Longbranch, Texas, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on March 16th. Claude was born on July 2, 1928 in Elkhart, Texas to Claude and Lily Mae Hicks.
In 1949 he married the love of his life, Joy Hodges and together they had a beautiful family.
Claude was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II, enlisting after the 11th grade.
Claude’s greatest achievements included his acceptance of Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and a lifetime dedicated to His teachings; 65 years of a wonderful marriage to Joy, and his family of which he was very proud.
Quoting from his memoirs: “We had three wonderful children, of whom we are very proud. I know, I have not been the best of fathers, but no father has loved their children as much as I love mine.” –Claude
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sister Lois and brother William Edward “Bill”.
Survivors include his loving wife, Joy; three children, son John and wife Wendy; daughter, Kathie Wittner and husband, Rickey; son Daryl and his wife Darla; seven grandchildren, Katrina Lewis and husband, Marshall; Amber Gorman and husband Chuck; John A. Hicks and husband, Jason; Desiree DeFrance; Krista LeBow and husband, Casey; Daryl Ray Hicks; Deanne Nepper and husband Johnnie. 9 Great-grandchildren; loving brother, Coy and wife, Nell; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
The family will receive friends and family Wednesday, March 18th from 2:30 to 3:30 at Rader Funeral Home, Henderson, Texas, followed by a celebration of Claude’s life at 4 pm.
