Funeral services for Clara E. Combs, 92, of Gladewater, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, November 22, 2004 at Abundant Life in Gladewater with Pastor M. D. McGuire and Assistant Pastor Jonathon Travis officiating. Interment will be at 4 p.m. in Parkdale Cemetery, Arlington, TX. She passed away Saturday morning, November 20, at her home in Gladewater.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Abundant Life.
Mrs. Combs was born September 22, 1912, in Cross Plains, Texas to Henry P. and Marzee Faulkner. She was a graduate of Tarleton State College in Stephenville, where she received her teaching certificate. A resident of Arlington, TX. for 53 years, she and her husband Woodrow W. Combs pastored the First Pentecostal Church for 35 years. After retirement she moved to Gladewater, where she had been a resident for 12 years, and was an Honorary Pastor?s Wife at Abundant Life.
Mrs. Combs was preceded in death by her husband Woodrow W. Combs, and her son, Charles Edward Combs.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Glenda L. and Rev. M.D. McGuire of Gladewater; sisters and brothers-in-law, Henrietta and Kirtley DuPree of Snyder, TX., Lella Chandler of Arlington, and Pauline and Hubert Hancock of Dublin, TX.; grandchildren, Shanna Travis and her husband Jonathon, and Marshell DuBose and her husband, Danny all of Gladewater; her great granddaughter, Madeline DuBose also of Gladewater; and numerous nieces and nephews.
