Chris Parks' Obituary
Donald Christopher “Chris” Parks, age 65, passed away March 25, 2024 in Longview, Texas. Chris is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carla Parks , two sons and two daughters, eight grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Chris was pre-deceased by his father Don Parks and mother Delores Kuykendall, brother David Parks, and sister Debbie Griffitts.
Left to cherish his memory are Aaron and Kelly Grimes and their children, Brenson, Reagan, and Jacob of Conroe, Texas; Brandon Parks and girlfriend Jennifer Coldiron of Longview, Texas; Sarah and Jared Peveto, and their daughters, Avery and Lydia of Longview, Texas; Katie and John Little and their children, Ethan, Allison and Hannah of Longview, Texas. He is also survived by one brother, Tim Parks and his wife Kathy and their sons Michael and Blake of Zamora, California; his sister Maurine and her husband Emil DeVries of Fresno, California along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In 1978 he met his wife Carla and celebrated 46 years of marriage. Chris worked in the valve industry as an outside salesman for 45 years. His last employment being Sunbelt Supply, and just recently celebrated his 25 year mark with the company. Chris was a Christian and a member of St. Mathews Catholic Church. As a way to encourage others to follow their faith in Christ, Chris created the Pocket Cross company as a token and reminder that Jesus gives us Peace.
Chris was a avid fisherman and enjoyed both saltwater and freshwater fishing. He would spend hours on the water, not catching anything and be very happy just being on the water. His happy place was on Lake Broken Bow in Oklahoma. He played the guitar starting at an early age. He mostly played acoustic guitar, but learned the way of an electric guitar. Chris spent many hours playing music for his children and grandchildren and gave them multiple lessons on how to play. When he was not fishing or playing the guitar, he enjoyed his time watching his grandchildren playing sports.
Visitation for Chris will be Friday, April 5, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm and memorial services to follow at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd. Longview, Texas.
