Chip Stroman's Obituary
Arnold “Chip” Stroman, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, was born on August 20, 1946, in Avinger, Texas. With great love, he departed this world on July 20, 2026, in Longview, Texas, after valiantly facing heart and kidney failure. He now joins his beloved parents, Herman and Bettie Jo Stroman, who welcomed him into eternal rest in 2001 and 2004.
A proud graduate of Avinger High School, Class of 1965, Chip was a talented basketball player whose enthusiasm for life extended far beyond the court. He married the love of his life, Carolyn, in 1967, and together they spent 58 beautiful years creating a loving family. Chip leaves behind his devoted son, Clint Stroman, and daughter-in-law, Natalie Ritter, with whom he shared countless joyful moments. He is also survived by his loving sisters, Ida Betts and husband Thad, and Ruby Graves (preceded in death by Reed Graves in 2025), and his brother, Jacky Stroman and wife Teresa Stroman.
Chip dedicated most of his career to Lone Star Steel (later US Steel), where he worked tirelessly from 1970 until his retirement in 2008. Throughout his life, he exemplified the virtues of hard work and commitment, inspiring those around him.
A man of deep faith, Chip was a treasured member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where his unwavering Christian belief served as a guiding light for him and an encouragement to others. He found great joy in the great outdoors, relishing the moments spent hunting and fishing. His quick wit and dry sense of humor brought laughter to many, leaving behind a legacy of joy that will not be forgotten.
We invite family and friends to join together in a heartfelt celebration of Chip’s life. A service honoring his legacy will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Longview. A time of visitation will take place one hour prior to the service, providing an opportunity to share stories, laughter, and memories that showcase the spirit of this remarkable man.
