I only knew Charlie a few years....but long enough to know what a great guy he was...he will surely be missed in the RGV...He loved football. fishing, country music, and telephones, and most of all Joy. Rest in peace good buddy.
Joy and Family,
I am filled with sadness at your loss. Hoping that in your time of sorrow you will find special memories to ease your pain. Wrapped in every memory is the love you shared.
Charlie was a unique individual and an exceptional coach because of his great love for kids and opponents.
My first game against Charlie and his team was at the old Bulldog stadium. We had a young man taken to the hospital with a serious neck injury. Early the next morning, the first call was from Coach asking about my player.
On another occasion, Charlie invited me to go with him to visit the legendary Rice coach, Jess Neely, at the nursing home. What a great learning experience that was!
We had some exciting games with Charlie's teams when he was at McAllen and later at Harlingen.

There is NO doubt that Charlie was successful!

Mrs. Williams and Randy, and rest of the family,
My deepest sincere condolences. My memories of Coach Williams are all fond memories. Including all the hard workouts he put us through. But he taught me to do the best I could and never do anything half hearted. I graduated in 71. I joined the US Navy in 72 and retired in1994 as a Senior Chief. I joined a law enforcement agency and retired as a sergeant and I accomplished this because of what Coach taught me. I feel your pain and sorrows for I too lost my beloved of 33 years. I am sorry I will not be able to attend the services. But I have you and your family in my prayers.
Sincerely, JJ Cantu #82 PSJA Class of 1971
Miss Joy, Randy, Karen and kids,
Lee and I are so sorry for your loss. May God bring you all peace and give smiles to your hearts as you remember all the special times you all shared. I only had one opportunity to spend time with "coach", and that was to take him to a Lobo game after I watched the Pine Tree band march. He really loved the game! I have been reading the comments and memories posted. As much as he was successful on the field, he was so much more in life. What a life well lived! Lots of love and prayers. Lee and Andree Reynolds
Coach Williams was such an integral part of our years at PSJA during 1960-64! He was an inspiration to all of us. We send our condolences and our love to his family at this difficult time, but know Coach Williams left a wonderful legacy for many, many people. - Sandy Skinner Propst

Charlie, you were a big part of the success the athletic program had at Harlinge High in 83-85. I was so fortunate to be a part of your staff. Your love for your athletes and coaches will never be forgotten. You were a class act. God bless you and the Williams Family. Rest in peace. Joe Anzaldua.
No words can explain how he made us feel; yet many words come to mind about his presence in our lives. Coach Williams was a great mentor and the "Heartbeat" at PSJA from 60-64. What a great legacy.....raise the bar through love. He will be missed, but; always remembered.
