Charles McKnight Bussey's Obituary
A memorial service for Charles M. Bussey, 83, of Longview will be held at 10 AM Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Summerfield United Methodist Church with Reverend Brad Nelson officiating. Mr. Bussey passed away Wednesday morning in a local hospital. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Charles was born on March 25, 1925 in Gregg County, Texas to Mr. and Mrs. N.W. Bussey. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII where he served in New Guinea and the Philippines. After graduating from Texas A&M, he worked as a Civil Engineer for the City of Longview for 32 years. In 2005, Mr. Bussey was recognized by the Texas Department of Agriculture in a Family Land Heritage Ceremony honoring his family's historic agricultural legacy with 100 years of land ownership. He was also a long time member of Summerfield United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and 3 brothers, David, Edward and James Bussey.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Agnes Bussey of Longview; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and David Mayberry of Longview; daughter, Patricia Bussey of Longview; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Margie Bussey of Pritchett, Texas; son Allan Bussey of Longview; 2 grandchildren, Charles David Mayberry and his fiancé, Jeanetta Richardson, and Matthew Mayberry and his special friend Charlene Allen; his sister, Nadyne Thomas of Kilgore; and great-grandchildren, Triston Mayberry, and Ashlyn and Austin Richardson.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Summerfield United Methodist Church, PO Box 65, Judson Texas 75660.
