Charles Wesley McGregor SR's Obituary
Charles Wesley McGregor, SR. of Longview, TX, was born February 27, 1935, in Troup, TX, to Wesley McGregor and Novelle Stanley McGregor. He graduated from Troup High School in 1954. Mr. McGregor served in the US Army and was a Viet Nam Veteran. After his service, he attended LeTourneau University where he studied engineering. Later he worked for many years for Martin Gas. He retired after 42 years from Verizon Telephone Co.
Charlie was a life member of the VFW Post 4002 where he served for several years as Commander. During that time, he started the Post 4002 Honor Guard of which he was very proud to be a part of. He was a member of the Pine Tree Masonic Lodge, Eagles Lodge, Ambucs of Longview, Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, and the American Legion. Charlie was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was proud of his family. He loved to volunteer and help others> He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Judson where he was a Sunday School teacher for many years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wesley McGregor, his mother, Novelle McGregor; his son, Charles Wesley McGregor, JR; brothers, Tommy and Johnny McGregor.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 26 years, Diane McGregor; daughters, Charla McGregor Simmons of Diana, Lisa McGregor Cook of Kilgore, and Tonya Minor Garza of Kilgore; grandsons, Marshall Tucker of Henderson, Jesse McGregor of Yantis, TX; granddaughters Jamie Stewart, Mallory Cook, and Megan Price of Kilgore, and Leslie Nichols of Galveston, TX. He is also survived by his great grandsons Caleb Tucker, Wesley Price, Rush Wheeler, Brian McGregor; and great granddaughter Olivia McGregor; Also, a sister-in-law, Martha McGregor.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home of Longview, Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, at First Baptist Church of Judson with Brother Tim Smith officiating, followed by an honor guard salute at the graveside at Judson Cemetery next to the church.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to VFW Post 4002 Honor Guard or First Baptist Church of Judson.
