Charles W. McGough, Ed.D.
Funeral services for Charles W. McGough, Ed.D., will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2015 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Dr. Jimmy Aimes officiating. Dr. McGough passed away Monday, May 11. He was born August 9, 1942, in Bastrop, Louisiana. Charles attended Northeast La State College, earning his BA. He continued his education at East Texas State University, earning a MS and Ed.D. He was in public education for 32 years, retiring from Hallsville ISD as the junior high principal. After retirement, he continued in education observing student teachers for ETBU and the P.A.C.T. program at LeTourneau.
He was preceded in death by his father John Lawrence, III and his mother Minnie Mae; his brothers, John Lawrence IV and William David.
Dr. McGough is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ginger Gail (Houston); son, Dr. Charles T. McGough and wife Dr. Renee McGough; daughters: Virginia (Lu) Ewing and husband Jimmy Ewing, Theresa VanWinkle and husband Charlie VanWinkle. His grandchildren include: Maegan and husband Andy Privett, Kasey McGough, Kyle McGough, Austin Rateliff, Lucas VanWinkle, Charlotte VanWinkle, Nathan Ewing, and Nick Ewing.
His sisters: Dinky Douglas of Monroe, LA, Betty King of Lake Providence, LA, Margaret Ziegler of Belle Chase, LA, Jeannie Witt of Ruston, LA, Alice Brent of Bastrop, LA., and his brother Robert McGough of Chandler, TX.
There will be no visitation for this service. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Heart’sWay Hospice of Northeast Texas, 437 W. Panola, Carthage, TX 75633, www.heartswayhospice.org.
