Charles "Pete" Baird
A service in Celebration of the Life of Charles "Pete" Baird will be held at 4 PM Saturday June 21, 2008 at the Rose Heights Church 1500 W. Hawkins Parkway with Pastor James Dill, Reverend Tommy Jackson, and Reverend C. L. Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Rosewood Park under the direction of Rader Funeral Home. Charles passed from this life to one free from pain on Thursday June 19, 2008 in Longview.
Charles was an integral part of our lives; we will continue our lives with the assurance that we will see him again in his new body when we join him and so many others at the throne of God.
Charles was born May 26, 1931 to Reverend M. H. and Ruby Baird in Dover, Arkansas. Mr. Baird will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, grandfather and for his love of church, family, and friends. A musician having played his instruments in church from the age of 15 years. He was a member of the Steel Guitar Association. A United States Army Korean War Veteran.
Charles served in the Southside Assembly of God Church through the years, in the capacity of youth leader, Men's Fellowship Leader, Sunday School Superintendent, and taught the Auditorium Bible Class. Charles retired from Texas Eastman Company after 34 years of Service.
His most cherished asset was a great man of faith and integrity, his word was his bond.
He was preceded in death by his parents The Reverend M. H. and Ruby Baird.
Survivors left to cherish his memories include his beloved wife of 571/2 years, Janiece Baird, son Charles M. Baird, Jr. and wife Karen, daughter, Linda A. Lee all of Longview
He was blessed with three grandchildren, Brandon L. Baird and wife Heather, Bryan C. Baird and wife Wendy and Melanie Reed, great-grandchildren, Kevin Reed and Sarah Elizabeth Baird.
In later years Charles and Janiece attended the Rose Heights church.
The Baird family extends it's heartfelt thanks to all their many friends and everyone who has touched our lives with love, hope and their prayers. Each of you has made this experience a bit easier with your kind words, loving care and gentle smiles.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday June 20, 2008 from 5pm until 7pm.
