Charles Lamm's Obituary
Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Charles “Charlie” Wallace Lamm, went Home June 3, 2023, to be with his heavenly Father, parents Geraldine Lewis and Charles Lawrence Lamm, and three beautiful babies, Bruce, Christopher, and Valerie who awaited him there.
Charlie was born in Bladen, Ohio on October 6, 1939. He resided in the area until joining the U.S. Air Force in 1955 where he served in Arizona for four years. He returned to his home in the early 1960’s where he met and wed Garnett DeVault, his cherished spouse of 61 years. Following the recession in Ohio, Charlie moved his small family to West Texas in 1978 in search of a better life for them. Although the transition was rocky, it proved to be a wise decision. His final move was to East Texas in the mid-1990’s to a landscape more reminiscent of “home”.
Charlie was an avid fisherman who enjoyed hunting and working on cars in his prime, and birdwatching, discussing the news, and debating politics in his retirement. He was blessed with a gift for cooking and a green thumb. He was a very generous man with a kind heart and a playful spirit.
He is survived by his children, Teresa Lankford and husband Norce, Greg Lamm and partner Felicia Ogles, and Lisa Martinez and husband Martin; grandchildren Ernest Hernandez and spouse Ashley, Amanda Martin, Tyler Lamm and spouse Meagan, Jordan Martinez and fiancé Halee Smith, Nathaniel Young, Dakota Lamm, and Sophie Miller and husband Ryan; and great-grandchildren Ashlyn, Kyra, Abree, Bailey, Addi, Clair, Addison, Olivia, Whysper, Myles, Bryler, and Falon. A much-loved brother, Freddie Lamm, and cousins Karen Miller of Gallipolis, Ohio and Ron & Pam Swanson of Whitehall, Ohio also survive him. He was preceded in death by siblings Garry Lamm, Keith Lamm, Barbara Rossiter, Dianne Finley, Linda Waugh, and Marcia Lamm.
He will be greatly missed by all.
Special thanks to the staff of Marshall Homecare and Hospice for their tender care and compassion.
