Charles Ira Clark's Obituary
Major Charles Ira Clark, United States Army Retired, 78, of Longview passed away Monday morning January 9, 2012 in Longview. Mr. Clark was born on July 6, 1933 in St. Charles, Minnesota to Lester Clark and Emma Langer.
Charles served 20 years in the US Army serving in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He earned multiple commendations including the bronze star, and the Danh-Du Boi-Tinh Southern Vietnam Armed Forces Honor Medal. After retiring from the army Charles worked for 19 years as a postal clerk in
United Sates Postal Service. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a member of the VA Honor Guard. Charles favorite pastimes where hunting and fishing.
Charles is survived by his wife, Ruth Clark of Longview; daughter, Linda French of Southlake, Texas; sons, Mike Clark of Gladewater, Texas, Steve Clark of Kilgore, Texas, Roger Clark of Alton, New Hampshire; seven grandchildren Christa and Kayley French of Southlake, Texas, Tiffany Clark, Stacy Clark, Brianna Clark, Carol Ann and Kristen Clark and five Great-Grandchildren; three brothers and one sister. The family would like to thank the staff at Beacon Hospice for their care and support while caring for Mr. Clark during his last days.
A memorial service will be held Friday January 13, 2012 at 2:00pm at the chapel at Rader Funeral Home in Longview.
