Charles Fuller Lyon's Obituary
Charles "Chuck" Fuller Lyon was born April 15, 1944, in Longview, Texas, to George and Ada Fuller Lyon. Surrounded by his children in Austin, he went to be with the Lord on July 31, 2011.
Chuck was salutatorian of Judson High School class of 1961 and then graduated from Kilgore Jr. College and North Texas State University, where he earned his degree in accounting. After passing the CPA exam on his first attempt, he went to work for the accounting firm of Deloitte Haskins & Sells in Houston, eventually becoming a partner in the firm. Later he moved to Austin and worked as an auditor for the State of Texas and then as assistant director of auditing for the University of Texas system until his retirement.
He enjoyed fishing, sports, and the outdoors. He served his country in the U.S. Army Reserve.
He as preceded in death by his father, George Lyon.
He is survived by his children, Stacy and Marcus Tejada, Julie Lyon and Daniel Lyon, grandson Davis Caleb Tejada; his mother, Ada Laverne Fuller Lyon; sister, Nancy Ables; brother, Lee Lyon and wife Tina; uncle, James "Lefty" Fuller and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be 4 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2011, at Rader Funeral Home Chapel, Longview, with Dr. Harlan Hall officiating. Entombment will follow at Rosewood Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6 - 8 on Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to First Baptist Church, Longview, or a charity of choice.
